First round table on disciplinary responsibility of judges held in Kragujevac

The first round table “Disciplinary Responsibility of Judges – Challenges in the Practice of Disciplinary Bodies and Relevance of the Legislative Framework” was held in Kragujevac. It brought together 52 judges and presidents of courts serving at appellate jurisdiction courts in Kragujevac, and the representatives of local prosecutor’s offices and international organisations.

The Project and the members of the Council’s disciplinary bodies, who participated as panellists, came up with and organised the round table’s concept and programme. The role of moderators was assigned to the Disciplinary Prosecutor’s Deputies who fulfilled the role excellently, with President of the Appellate Court in Kragujevac, Judge Dubravka Damjanović, and the representative of the Judges Association of Serbia, Judge Snežana Bjelogrlić, as guests.

At the end of the discussion the participants came to some useful conclusions which will serve the Council as the basis for recommendations for amendments to be made in this field, which is ultimately the goal of such round tables.

The next round table is planned to be held in Novi Sad / Niš in September 2020.
